Before anything is bought or installed, somebody has to decide what the building actually needs. That decision is the design — and it is where a fire protection system is either made sound or quietly compromised.
What we produce
- Occupancy and hazard classification to NFPA 13 — the decision that drives every number downstream
- Hydraulic calculations establishing demand, and the pump duty required to meet it
- System design for standpipe, sprinkler, detection and suppression
- Shop drawings and as-built drawings
- Bill of quantities you can tender against
- Single-line diagrams, evacuation and equipment layout plans
Regulatory approval
We prepare and submit the full Fire Service & Civil Defence package: detection, protection, extinguisher and lightning-protection layouts, single-line diagrams, architectural and evacuation plans, and equipment schedules. We have taken multiple sites through FSCD approval.
Where a facility is subject to buyer-driven safety programmes — RSC, ACCORD, Alliance or Nirapon — the design has to satisfy that review too, which is a different and often stricter test.
Designs that have passed independent review
Two of our designs were submitted to third parties with no commercial interest in approving them, and were approved:
- RMG Sustainability Council — both the fire detection and the standpipe & sprinkler designs at TED Bernhardtz Textile Industry, including hydraulic calculation, pump selection and underground main routing.
- Bureau Veritas — the protection design for the Auto Crop Care agrochemical plant.
Design consultancy is available on its own. We are regularly engaged to design and obtain approval for systems that another contractor installs.
