Standards & Compliance

Fire protection is one of the few trades where a mistake is not discovered until it matters. Anyone can claim competence; what follows is what we can evidence — the standards our designs are built to, the frameworks our work is audited against, and the qualifications the people doing it actually hold.

Independently reviewed engineering

The strongest claim we can make is not our own. On two projects, designs produced by RADS were submitted to independent third parties and approved:

  • RMG Sustainability Council (RSC) — both the Fire Detection & Alarm and the Standpipe & Sprinkler designs for TED Bernhardtz Textile Industry passed formal RSC design review, including the hydraulic calculation, pump set selection, and underground fire main routing.
  • Bureau Veritas — the fire protection design for the Auto Crop Care agrochemical plant at Bhaluka was validated by Bureau Veritas.

A supplier can assert that a system meets the standard. Passing third-party design review means somebody with no commercial interest checked the calculations and agreed.

Compliance frameworks we work within

Export manufacturing in Bangladesh is audited against buyer-driven safety programmes. Our work has been delivered under, and inspected within, the following:

  • RSC — RMG Sustainability Council (design review and approval obtained)
  • ACCORD — and its successor programmes
  • Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety
  • Nirapon
  • Bureau Veritas third-party validation

If your facility is subject to RSC, Nirapon or a buyer’s own audit, we have built systems that passed those regimes before.

These are qualifications held by an individual, and we list them as such. Training and certification in fire protection are awarded to people, not to companies.

  • Firestop Installer Training (FIT) Level 1 — Specified Technologies Inc. (STI), UL-accredited, valid to 2029
  • Advanced Firestop Executive Installer (e-BEST) — Hilti Academy, UL-accredited, 0.8 CEU, valid to 2029
  • Through-Penetration Firestopping for Engineers — Hilti Academy, valid to 2029

Formal training

  • NFPA 13 (2016 edition) — Automatic Sprinkler Systems, five-day course, ESSAB, held at the Fire Service & Civil Defence Training Centre, December 2017
  • NFPA 72 (2019 edition) — National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, five-day course, ESSAB, held at the Institute of Architects Bangladesh, November 2018

Continuing education

  • FM Global Fire Service Learning Network — nine assessed modules covering sprinkler system design and function, operations at fires in sprinklered properties, ASRS storage protection, and pre-incident planning
  • Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI / UL) — three course completions including fire behaviour and horizontal ventilation
  • Firestop 101 — STI modules in MEP penetrations, data-comm and electrical, and construction joints; plus RectorSeal Firestop 101

Why this matters when you are choosing a supplier

Fire protection equipment can be bought from anyone. What separates a supplier from a contractor is whether they can produce a hydraulic calculation that survives review, obtain FSCD approval, commission the system to NFPA 3, and then maintain it to NFPA 25 for the years that follow.

Our project record shows systems that were designed, approved, installed, commissioned and are still under maintenance today.
